Another amazing Dragon Race reaches an exciting conclusion!

Thank you to everyone who took part in #dragonhikeandfly2019. I was worried a few days ago that the weather wouldn't play ball, but it did and you all made the absolute best of it. WIth only Saturday flyable, I set a 49km task from Libanus to Crickhowell, via the Grwyne Fawr Bothy, Pen Allt Mawr and Llangors - hoping for the pilots to get most it done in day one. It was the highest quality of hike and fly racing that we've had in the three years of the event and we ended up with a very well deserved winner in Tim Pentreath who flew most of the route yesterday in only a couple of speedy flights. Mention must also go to Peter Lake who literally bounced back after his crash last year to be the most in form pilot in Wales at the moment. We had 7 pilots in goal, which is a record and made 50% of the field, which makes me and them all obviously very happy. Those who didn't make goal had tough hiking conditions this morning, with strong wind and rain before the finish time at 2pm. Then the sun came out for the BBQ! If anyone has photos to add from the event please share and tag them widely. The hashtag does work, as it allows everyone to find them in years to come! Thank you very much to Airdesign Gliders for sponsoring the event and the great prizes for everyone and Likeys for helping me out with some of the ultralight hiking gear.
