2017 Gatskop - Porterville

Gatskop is a local "fun comp" that focuses on skills development. This is not your typical class 2 competition, as beginners, intermediate and competition pilots get divided into teams and scores on the performance of the bottom two pilots. Individual scoring of each class also takes place. 

There are two floating trophies for beginner and intermediate class as well as loads of prizes for most improved pilot, best instructor, Turkey king and the best pilot award. This competition challenges schools and club across South Africa to bring their recently qualified students to learn in a safe environment how to fly xc and is a stepping stone for competition flying. 

Non commercial tandem flights will be allowed and Tandem rated pilots are encouraged to take students or beginner pilots with them and teach them how to fly xc.

The Gatskop 2017 will be held over 2 days, with official tasks on the Saturday and the Sunday (weather dependent). Friday will be a free fly day, with optional recovery offered, so we recommend staying over on the Friday evening if you can as the briefing and team selection starts at 8 am the Saturday morning.
