This task is a stepping stone to flying the popular Coronet to Wanaka route and is designed for experienced pilots. The beginning of any cross country flight from Coronet usually involves a climb out from Brow Peak and is critical to get right if you ever intend flying to Wanaka. This will also test your ability to negotiate along the edges of airspace and will require a track log as proof the flight has been completed.
This task should not be attempted in high wind or when it is blowing W or NW. During these conditions the route to and from Brow Peak can vary from particularly unpleasant to dangerous.
The first turn point WK091 is set right on the western edge of the Coronet GAA boundary so care must be taken not to infringe airspace. The following maps may change so please do not use these for navigation. Please always consult the latest official published information
The second turn point at Coronet Peak will push you close to the top (5500ft) airspace ceiling so care must be taken here as well.
The third turn point at Brow Peak must also be tagged at 6500ft, (the minimum height recommended before crossing to Soho). Note the 5500 airspace in front of Brow.
If you have made it this far it should be plain sailing for the rest of the task to the Trig, Coronet Peak road hairpin and back to the Flight Park.
