Clement Latour is nearing end of speed too. This is such an endurance race today, which XAlps veteran Clement, will be well suited to. So many of us were in awe of Clement's stunning performances in 2013 and 2011 in the XAlps, he's also no stranger to top 10 PWC places. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 19:00:19) :
It looks as if Brazilian pilot Pablo Rodarte has got a climb from a small ridge and now got enough height to get the end of speed section and goal. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:54:33) :

The last 5 km of today's task has been really really difficult with a very inconsiderately placed col right at the end. %D%A 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:36:00) :
Louis Gerin-Jean, known as 'Son of Aerogliss' the famous paragliding school in the South of France, is just short of goal but we're not sure if he is still flying. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:34:05) :
Sandy Lambert has got 6 km to go, she's quite low but in a climb, her husband Cyril Lambert's tracker isn't showing up so not sure who'll be making dinner in their house tonight. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:26:51) :
We can't give a first lady yet as Seiko Fukuoka Neville's tracker is off line. At the moment it looks as if Klaudia Bulgakow is the first lady to reach goal. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:21:43) :
We can't announce the first lady as Seiko Fukuoka Naville's tracker isn't working today, for the moment, the always smiling Petra Slivova was the first lady in goal. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:19:19) :
It looks as if top pilots Russel Ogden and Joachim Oberhausser landed just short. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:17:45) :

Luca Donini and Joachim Oberhauser have just made goal. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:10:28) :
Stefan Wyss has just landed in goal and may have won the day, 3 seconds ahead of Adrian Hachen. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:08:10) :
Adrain Hachen's track looks as if he has beaten Tim by 5 seconds. The coverage is very poor so we will only have definitive results later. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:04:43) :
Stefan Wyss is allegedly very near to the end of speed section at the moment too although his tracker isn't accurate. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:03:43) :
The live tracking coverage around the end of speed section is not great so a lot of the trackers are not fully working making exact results difficult to assess at the moment. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:02:32) :
Tim looks as if he is 3 km ahead and has just made the end of speed section in 3 hours 12 seconds. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:01:12) :
Stefan Wyss's tracker is on line but probably not showing his correct current position. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 18:00:11) :
Honorin is in third position but he needs a climb, he's pushing boldly forward but there is a tricky little col just before end of speed. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:58:37) :
Adrain Hachen's live tracker has just come back on line and he's in the lead. The Boomerang 11s are in a flat out race to end of speed with only 6 km to go, they're on final glide, what a race! 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:55:22) :
With 10 km to go to the end of speed Tim has got a 2.5 km lead, absolutely amazing given the field of sky gods behind him desperately try to catch his trailing edge. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:50:36) :
Iranian pilot Soheil Barikani is right beside leader Tim Bollinger. Soheil has done some amazing flying in Iran, flying up to 6360 m without oxygen and in strong wind and strong thermals - a bit different to GV today. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:47:01) :
Mexican pilot Manuel Quintanilla is right behind the two leaders, used to flying in Valle de Bravo, these conditions probably suit him. He was 9th in the PWC in Bir India, so definitely a very versatile pilot. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:43:30) :
Reigning champion, Stefan Wyss, could pop up anywhere as his tracker is out of coverage at the moment. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:42:23) :

There is a thick cirrus layer to the south which will make finding good lift a lot more difficult and slow everyone down a bit on their way to the end of speed section. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:25:30) :
The top 50 have got the second turn point, this is such an unbelievably fast competition. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:24:14) :
Tim Bollinger, French champion Jonathan Marin and Torsten Siegell have all got the 2nd turn point 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:21:42) :
Michael Sigel and Petra Slivova have got the turnpoint together. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:18:42) :
Those who are taking the turn point further north, and nearer, will then turn south sooner, fly down wind and possibly over take the leaders who still have to go cross wind to get the turn point. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:15:36) :
Laurie Genovese, Maxime Bellemin and Thomas Gury are all neck and neck to get the 2nd turn point. This is a truly amazing race. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:11:06) :
Andreas 'Pepe' Malecki needs no introduction, one of the great characters in our sport, frequently on the task committee, very experienced Alpine pilot, super consistent, not afraid to be inventive. 1st in the 2016 PWC in Italy, 2nd in the Monarca Open in Mexico in January 2016. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 17:08:11) :

Laurie is a very current pilot who did really well in a lot of cat 1 2 competitions in 2016 - European championships, Pre Worlds in Italy, French championships, the PWC in Italy and the Super Final in Mexico. She won the Super Final in 2014. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:51:20) :

Yesterday's winner, Tim Bollinger, is still right at the front. Tim got his first specially designed GIN wing when he was only 6 years old and grew up ground handling in his famous father's paragliding school. Great to see the up and coming young pilots doing so well. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:45:23) :
Petra's in the lead! 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:44:33) :

Reigning champion Wyss is in a good position, he was 5th yesterday. He won last years Super Final by taking the more direct, riskier, but shorter route, could he do that again this year and become the first ever pilot to win the Super Final twice? Today he's in a good position to break away and do well. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:36:53) :
Rafael is very low compared to the others and may lose time trying to regain height. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:35:48) :
The different route choices are really seperating the pilots out. Top Brazilian pilot and distance record holder Rafael Saladini has gone well to the north of the course line. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:33:09) :
Honorin and Denis Chouraqui have now gone back nearer the course line and left Charles Cazaux and Tim Bollinger taking the hillier route. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:30:58) :
Brazilian open distance record holder (564 km - 11 hours in the air) Samuel Nascimentos is following the direct course line and has broken away from the gaggle - definitely one to watch. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 16:28:02) :

Ozone test pilots Russel Ogden and Honorin Hamard are currently battling it out for first place taking a more direct line than Felix. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:54:20) :
Felix can only be described as pure dynamite, he can always be guaranteed to entertain and that is just what he is doing, taking a completely different line to everyone else. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:52:08) :
Felix Rodriguez Fernandez is right out on his own well to the east of the others. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:48:20) :
Most of the pilots are heading for the hill behind Cap Andrade. Murat Tuzer and flying Scotsman Brendan Reid are taking a slighly wider line than the others. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:45:55) :
Lucas Bernadin has just taken the lead. Great to see him doing so well after 6 months with very little flying as he was sailing across the Atlantic with his wife and 3 young children - what an adventure! Lucas is no stranger to winning PWCs, having won 2 in 2010 and frequenly in the top 10. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:42:02) :
Michael Sigel has just gone into first place. He's no stranger to winning PWCs having won the PWC in Brazil in 2013 and in Columbia in 2011. Consistently in the top 10. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:38:52) :
Aaron Durogati is current leading. He was third yesterday. Well known for doing well in endurance races like the XAlps and X-Pyr which could stand him in good stead for this 10 day long Super Final. He won the super final in 2012, could he be the first pilot ever to win the Super Final twice? 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:34:13) :
This is such a close race today with only half a km separating the top 20 pilots. %D%A 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:29:56) :
It's a real battle at the front between Honorin Hamard on the Zeno, Tim Bollinger and Yury Mishanin on an Enzon 2 who have pushed ahead but Honorin will be keen not too push ahead too much today and make the same mistake as yesterday. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 15:23:57) :

All eyes are on the wind dummy who has just taken off and is thermalling up nicely over launch. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 13:49:13) :
Because of its height above the surrounding landscape (990m) Pico Da Ibituruna tends to act like a magnet drawing thermals towards its wooded slopes. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 13:46:40) :
A free flying pilot has taken off and not stayed up. 7 years ago (2017-01-19 13:43:51) :
